  • The community was originally named Hart Ford, for a widow who lived near West Creek, which settlers forded on their way west.
  • Hartford was once a thriving community also benefiting from the coal industry. One of the most unique features of Hartford is that of the Hartford Music Company, bringing back memories of the time when the Hartford Music Institute, owned by E.M. Bartlett, first opened in the early 1900s.
  • Today the city of Hartford is progressing ever-forward with downtown revitalization and a sewer project giving potential for industrial growth in the area bringing a bright future to this former mining town.
